Dr Thomas Gin MBBS (Hons), BMedSc, FRANZCO Eye Specialist & Surgeon | Cataract & Medical Retina
Dr Thomas Gin is an ophthalmologist, cataract surgeon and fellowship-trained medical retinal specialist. His expertise is in cataract surgery and the management of retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vascular disorders.
Dr Thomas Gin graduated with honours in Medicine from the University of Melbourne and ranked first in his clinical school final-year examinations. Following his residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he undertook ophthalmology surgical training in Melbourne at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital. During this time, he was awarded the Filipic-Greer medal for excellence in ophthalmic pathology. Dr Gin subsequently undertook further fellowship training in the subspecialty field of retina.
As a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Dr Thomas Gin practices in both the private and public sectors, where he treats a range of ocular diseases. He has published several research articles on age-related macular degeneration in international peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. He is an experienced cataract surgeon and is involved in teaching trainee ophthalmologists as a consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and Austin Hospital.
